A Police officer arrested in connection to Issa Njaunju’s Murder
The Malawi Police has arrested a second suspect cop Sergeant Titus Thombozi of Mchinji police station who is allegedly being accused of playing a role in killing of the former Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) director of corporate affairs Issa Njaunji in July last year.Spokesperson for the Malawi Police Nicholas Gondwa confirmed in an interview with malawi punch repoter yesterday, but refused to reveal extra sequence of the arrest to avoid interrupting further investigations.
“We are still investigating on the issue it will be too early to disclose further information,” said Gondwa.
Thombozi is the second police officer to be arrested for being allegedly getting involved in the murdering of Njaunju.At first it was Christopher Naphwiyo a criminal investigations officer (CID) who was arrested soon after disclosing that he knows who murdered Njaunju at a drinking place (pub).
Njauju was killed by unknown people and his body was discovered half buried by sand miners along a river near Presidential Villas. His official vehicle, a Toyota Hilux double cabin pick-up, was found burnt to ashes in July 2015.
