As Government embraces the Buy Malawi Strategy, Davis Kasenza, Founder and proprietor of Davina Furniture, is supplementing the efforts by broadening his products’ market scope beyond the country’s borders.
Kasenza’s confidence follows a month long skill enhancement tour to some states of China where he had gone in partial fulfillment of his award as winner of Malawi broadcasting Cooperation (MBC) Innovations Awards in the Small Scale Enterprise category.
On arrival through Kamuzu International Airport, furniture maker, also former lecturer of Lilongwe Technical College, asserted that his trip was “worthwhile and has enlightened me on the internationally required quality of products and the standard procedure to follow if I’m to export my products.”
He also disclosed that he had been exposed to high quality machinery required to produce the demanded quality and quantity of furniture for his local and the would-be international customers.
On departure, Kasenza, who got the award under “Hard work, Integrity and Patriotism”, had challenged local youths to discover their goals and stay focused while working hard at them arguing that it was perfect recipe for success.
In an interview, MBC Publicist, Thembi Malinki, expressed pleasure and satisfaction that the trips promised to the awardees had been rolled out and were proceeding successfully as planned.
All of the ten awardees will be sponsored to China and Egypt on skill enhancement tours of their respective categories and the trips will be sponsored by embassies of the respective countries to Malawi and Kasenza was fifth.-Mana
