Some players for the Lilongwe-based Silver Strikers FC have threatened to take unspecified action against the team’s management if they fail to to give them their signing-on fees since last season.
The players confronted the club’s executive committee on Friday at Silver Stadium to voice out their frustrations.
Acting General Secretary, Thabo Chakaka- Nyirenda, said the players got an assurance that they will be paid their dues.“First and foremost, the matter is very minor arising from very slight misunderstandings. The matter has been sorted out. Blowing this out is tantamount to attempting to create a mountain out of a molehill. We just had a one-to-one meeting with each player to clarify certain contractual provisions,” Chakaka-Nyirenda explained.
“I guess because the meeting took place during training, people mistook it for a boycott of training. The meeting is one of the routine ones. We will have many of them in future to appreciate the problems that players face.”
The club owes the players an about K10 million.
