Mighty BeForward Wanderers on Tuesday made it through to the national phase of Presidential Cup championship after beating Cobbe Barracks 3-1 at Kamuzu Stadium, Blantyre.
Nomads’s new acquisition Jaffalie Chande scored a goal that will simply herald his new lease of life in the Nyerere camp.
The home team took the lead in the first minute when Peter Wadabwa scored the fastest goal so far in the competition.
Cobbe barracks equalized through Fanuel Fukizi after beating the Nomads’ defence before scoring past goalkeeper Bester Phiri.
But it was a day for the Lali Lubani Road boys who regained the lead in the second half through substitute Jaffalie Chande- formerly of Nyasa Big Bullets- through a beautiful header. Wadabwa nailed it last to make it 3-1 after the final whistle.
This season TNM Super League biggest names avoided each other for the regional playoffs of the Presidential Football Championship during a draw last week.
The draw for the K60 million trophy was conducted by Football Association of Malawi (FAM). There will just be one all TNM Super League outfit clash as Kamuzu Barracks will face Epac FC. The other 14 top-flight league outfits will play against teams that emerged as district champions.
First round playoff games started on April 30th and will run up to May 11th. The team placed first on the list will be at home during the playoffs.
