Nyasa Bullets and Nomads Share Spoils In Blantyre Derby

Blantyre giants, Nyasa Big Bullets and Beforward Wanderers have shared spoils in the TNM Super League after a 1-1 draw at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

Both teams now have 5 points from three games. Bullets’ central defender Miracle Gabeya was named Man of the Match.

Nomads popularly known as Nyerere took a lead in 12th minute through Amos Bello, the Nigerian player, who caught Bullets defence napping by beating an off side trap.

But Bullets who looked a dejected side, were back in the game when captain Chiukepo Msowoya equalized in 34th minute through a penalty following a handball in the Nomads’ box.

Realistically, Nomads were the better side in the first half, controlling the affairs as they relentlessly menaced Bullets’ defence, but failed to convert created chances into goals.

It was pleasing to the Nyerere fans how dangerous their team was on the ball, controlling very well in the midfield. They nearly grabbed a second goal in the 19th minute but Bullets goalkeeper Ernest Kakhobwe was on time to keep off a Peter Wadabwa diving header.

Msowoya failed to put the peoples team on the lead in 44th minute as his shot hit the post and Mussa Manyenje failed to convert from the rebound when he shot wide with an empty net at his mercy.

Nomads, who had 14 players on the bench- so unusual- continued to control the game in the second half and almost took a lead again in 55th minute when Bullets keeper dropped a harmless ball in the path of Peter Wadabwa but the striker failed to beat a tight angle as his shot bounce off the woodwork.

Wadabwa missed another chance again in the 65th minute when he blasted over the bar in a one versus one situation against Bullets keeper Kakhobwe.

The two Blantyre giants were meeting in the third week of the 2016 TNM Super League.
Bullets drew 0-0 with Moyale Barracks FC during the opening of the league, and went on to win 1-2 against Red Lions.

While Nomads started with a 1-2 win over Silver Strikers, but were last weekend frustrated by new comers Dwangwa United at Kamuzu stadium as they drew 1-1
