Mzuni FC Players Beat Referee At Chitowe Stadium

Unofficial reports reaching Malawi Punch indicate that Mzuzu University (Mzuni) Football Club players have beaten a referee during a TNM Super League match against Dwangwa United FC at Chitowe Stadium in Nkhotakota district on Sunday.

Despite winning the game 2-1, Mzuni players decided to pounce on the official, infuriating Dwangwa supporters who eventually started beating the players.

It is not yet established as to what made the players to beat the referee. Super League of Malawi (Sulom) is yet to come up with official statement on the issue.

If found guilty, Mzuni FC risk being fined heavily or face a lengthy suspension.

Following the win, Mzuni FC have moved to 4th position on league log-table with 20 points from 12 games.
