Military football teams, Mafco FC and Moyale Barracks have progressed to the semifinals of the Presidential Cup following their narrow victories on Saturday.
Mafco beat Dwangwa United 1-0 Chitowe ground while Moyale booked the ticket for semifinal berth after claiming a 2-1 win over Epac FC at Civo stadium.
To reach the quarterfinals, Mafco beat Azam Tigers 3-1 while the Mzuzu based soldiers, Moyale beat Masters Security.
In other quarterfinals, Max Bullets will host Mighty Be Forward Wanderers while Kabwafu FC will battle it out with TNM Super League defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets.
To reach this stage, Max Bullets beat Wizards FC, Wanderers beat Red Lions while Nyasa Big Bullets beat Blue Eagles.
Mafco will face the winner between Kabwafu FC and Nyasa Big Bullets while Moyale awaits the winner between Max Bullets and Mighty Be Forward Wanderers.
Mafco FC are the defending champions having won the competition in 2013 before it took a two year break.
Wanderers is only the team to have won the cup twice while their traditional bitter rivals Bullets FC won the cup once. The cup is sponsored by government under the K120 million Presidential Initiative in Sports (PIS).
