The Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) has secured rights to beam all the UEFA’s EURO 2016 games.
Disclosing the development to Malawi News Agency, MBC Spokesperson Thembi Malinki explained that “MBC, as the market leader, has seen the need to have quality sports programming that is in line with its mandate of informing, entertaining and educating the nation.”
The State broadcaster is, by far, the only local station that has secured the rights according to Malinki and it will beam all the games starting with the kick-off on June 10, 2016 to the closing ceremony on July 10.
“This is also an unparalleled opportunity for advertisers to have their products and services a front row seat in the football showcase as a lot of Malawians love football and would not pass this opportunity to watch some of the world’s greatest players,” explains the Publicist.
She further explains that the soccer action which will be transmitted live from France will also involve commentary and analysis in both English and Chichewa by local sports experts.
