Max Bullets newly appointed Coach Patrick Kulemeka has hailed former controversial and tough spoken coach Leo Mpulula for assembling a youthful but perfect squad.
Kulemeka said this on Sunday after his side’s 2-2 draw against Azam Tigers in their debut match of the 2016-2017 TNM Super League season.
Kulemeka said he will not have lot of work to do since the former coach already drilled the players.
“I am happy that I have inherited a good team which was built by Leo and if you see the way the boys are playing, you will note that they were handled by a visionary person,” said Kulemeka.
“He built a good team and he is no longer here so I have to take charge and continue the good work”.
After Sunday’s game Kulemeka blamed his charges for committing ‘school boy mistakes’ which he said cost them the game by denying themselves three points. Max Bullets twice gave away the lead and again missed a penalty.
Coach Leo Mpulula resigned as Max Bullets Coach with only a week before the commencement of the new season following contractual disputes between players and club management.
He stood behind the players in being against the management decision to offer players three year contracts at a K100, 000.00 signing on fee.
In a related development, Red Lions Assistant coach Prichard Mwansa has commended Benesi Kaisi together with some of the players who were banned last season for adding value to the club.
Kaisi scored the only goal when the soldiers beat Epac F.C 1-0 on Sunday at the Balaka Stadium.
“The return of suspended players is a big boost to us and they are being impressive,” said Mwansa.
The players were slapped with a six-month ban following the fracas that erupted in a TNM Premier League match played at the Kamuzu stadium. They were accused of beating the referee.
