It’s a clash of Blantyre-based netball giants in the K360 million Airtel Money Netball tournament finals as Kukoma Diamonds face Tigresses.
Kukoma diamonds formally MTL Queens booked themselves into the finals after trouncing Blue Eagles 47-34 while Tigresses formally owned by late President Bingu wa Mutharika have reached the finals after narrowly edging out Civo by 40 baskets to 37.
The finals are on Saturday (tomorrow) at Don Bosco in Lilongwe. Eagles will meet Civo in a third place playoff on the same day.
Tigresses secure third straight Airtel Money championship finals. The Kau Kau ladies led the first quarter by 11-9 baskets with Sindi Simutowe netting most of the baskets.
In the second quarter, Tigresses powered in 11 more baskets to tally 22, while Civo also netted the same amount to stand at 20 baskets.
After third quarter, the battle was narrowly tilting in Tigresses’ favour as the scores stood at 31-29.
A late fight back did not yield Civo any dividends as the defending champions sailed to their third consecutive final.
