It might sound like a nightmare but the fact in-scripted in the official books of TNM Super League is that Karonga United imposed a surprise defeat on the league champions Nyasa Big Bullets.
Bullets full of swing from their triumph over Kabwafu FC on Saturday in Presidential Cup quarterfinals, could not believe the events that unfolded at Mzuzu Stadium as a second-half goal from Hygiene Mwendepeka helped Karonga United to bag maximum points.
Karonga United left no stone un-turned in their quest to ride one over the Blantyre-based football giants, thanks to Ernest Kakhobwe for saving Bullets’ face with his man-of-the-match goalkeeping displays.
The 10-man Bullets were poor in all efforts to claim a point from the game after losing Pililani Zonda to a red card.
Following the win, Karonga United have moved up to 14th on the TNM Super League log-table with six points from nine games while Bullets remain on 10th position with 12 points from seven games.
Mzimba West Member of Parliament Harry Mlekanjila Mkandawire lived up to his promise and gave Karonga United K100,000 for winning the game.
On Saturday Mkandawire also gave Kabwafu FC cash though they lost to Bullets 4-0 in Presidential Cup encounter.
