The Super League of Malawi (Sulom) says ti has managed to increase gate revenue collections by over 75 percent.
A report Sulom General Secretary Williams Banda presented during the institution’s annual general meeting (AGM) in Lilongwe on Saturday, reveals that the gate revenue collection has gone up from K180 million to K314 million last season.
Sulom Treasurer Tiya Somba-Banda attributed the increase to improved security during league matches.
“It was much boredom thing in the past every time hearing that some people have been arrested on suspicion of having stolen gate collections. Now that there are no more chances that is why we get such big amount,” said Somba-Banda.
Gate revenues are usually shared among Football Association of Malawi (Fam), Sulom, Malawi National Council of Sports, and league clubs.
