Football Association of Malawi (FAM) is currently conducting trials to select a squad for the under-17 national team.
The trials have been done at four centres, Mpira Stadium, Zomba Community Centre Ground, Nankhaka Stadium and Mzuzu stadium.
FAM with support from the National Youth Football Association and the Malawi Schools Sports Association is identifying players to go into camp on Sunday in preparation for the 2016 Cosafa Youth Championship to be staged in Mauritius later this month.
NYFA and Massa already has some players earmarked for the under-17 team selected from the Copa Cocacola , Airtel Money and FMB youth competitions.
However, FAM decided to give other players who were not part of the three competitions an opportunity to get noticed and make it into the final squad.
The association is also using the trials to screen players for age cheating.
Flames under-17 national team will face Zambia, Mozambique and Madagascar in the tournament to run from 22nd to 31st July 2016 in Port Louis in Mauritius.
Meanwhile, FAM has entrusted the services of Derklerk Msakakuona as Head Coach while Tione Mhone will be second in-charge of the junior flames.
Mike Banda from the Kamuzu Academy will be the Team Manager while Goalkeepers’ Trainer will be Heathwin Nkumbaleza.
