Malawi sports fraternity has lost one of its hardworking and dedicated souls, Dean Pinto who succumbed to Malaria and jaundice on Friday.
At time of his death Pinto was president of Malawi Aquatic Union (MAU), a grouping of swimming professionals. He was once an affiliate to the country’s hockey association.
Reports indicate that Pinto was diagnosed of Malaria and jaundice and was admitted to Adventist Hospital in Blantyre on Wednesday.
However, his condition did not improve and was about to be flown to South Africa for further medical attention when his condition deteriorated whilst at Chileka Airport, and had to be rushed back to the hospital, where he passed away.
Pinto is expected to be buried on Saturday night (9th April, 2016) at Haji Osman Mosque in Bawi in Balaka district, according to family relations, Hazrat Pillane.
Pinto once played for one of the country’s top clubs, Mighty Wanderers currently named BeFoward Wanderers. He later on managed the club.
