Blue Eagles FC’s unbeaten run in the top flight TNM Super League came to an end on Saturday at the Silver stadium as they lost for first time 2-1 to Silver Strikers.
Silver strikers were more on the offensive as they attacked with great anger from all possible angles putting the Peace Corps under siege.
Towards the end of the first half Matthews Sibale put the bankers ahead as he headed in a loose ball from rebound after Eagles defenders failed to clear the ball which was brilliantly curved into the box by Duncan Nyoni.
In the Second half, Blue eagles looked a changed side as they started piling pleasure on the bankers defence but Chisomo Mpachika was superb as he managed the defence impressively.
Wonder boy Tuso Pipe nailed the last nail on Eagles fresh wounds after dribbling past a number of eagles’ players before taking a magnificent short into the back of the net, to make it 2-0.
The Peace Corps put one back towards the end of the second half from a free kick which was we’ll taken by Wister Phiri but it was too late to save his team from the jaws of defeat.
Silvers strikers Coach Lovemore Fazili praised his charges for gallant fight, saying it was a dawn of good things to come from the bankers and the supporters should expect more.
On the other hand, his counterpart, Deckleck Msakakuona accepted defeat saying his boys were not good enough to beat the bankers, however he pointed out that they will come-back to their winning ways in the next game.
Meanwhile Blue eagles will play Nyasa Big Bullets in the Presidential cup on Wednesday at the Nankhaka stadium.
