Speaker of Parliament, Richard Msowoya has been captured on camera sleeping, raising questions on the seriousness of the country’s Members of Parliament (MPs) and opposition leaders who have recently become synonymous with sleeping during official events.
Msowoya was beamed live on MBC television enjoying his sleep during the global, World Environment Day commemorations at the Bingu International Convention Center on Monday.
Even the salutations of the country’s President mentioning the name and title of the Speaker at the beginning of his speech could not do enough to wake up the head of the country’s Legislature who was by this time in his own world.
Msowoya is executive member for Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
Weeks a go Peoples Party (PP) interim president Uladi Mussa was also caught on camera sleeping while United Democratic Front (UDF) Parliamentarian Lucius Banda was contributing to the President’s State of the Nation address.
Leader of government in Parliament George Chaponda is also among other Parliamentarians who have been captured sleeping in the august House.
