Ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) top officials, most of the cabinet ministers over the weekend suffered low turn up in their political rallies in the northern region.
There were low turn up mostly in Karonga where among others, minister of labour Henry Mussa and Trade and Industry minister Joseph Mwanamveka held the rallies ahead of President Peter Mutharika’s tour of the region in the next few weeks.
The same low turn up affected rallies held in Mzuzu, Rumphi, Chitipa, Mzimba and Nkhata Bay.
In Mzuzu, Information minister Patricia Kaliati and Sports and Youth minister Grace Chiumia were among the party officials that addressed people.
In Karonga, Khwauli Msiska, former Aford secretary general famed for moving a flopped presidential open terms bill, addressed people as a DPP official.
President Peter Mutharika’a administration has faced various challenges economically and socially ranging from high inflation rate, persistent food shortages to security elapses and the continued killing of people with albinsim.
