President Professor Peter Mutharika has appointed a five member government technical team which will continue to engage with Public Affairs Committee (PAC) on matters of national interest.
Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Samuel Tembenu is the one chairing the team and will be the spokesperson.
Other members are Collins Magalasi, Chief Economic Advisor and Executive Assistant to the President; Special Advisor and Assistant to the President on NGOs and Civil Society Mavuto Bamusi; Minister of Health Peter Kumpalume and Hetherwick Ntaba, Chief Advisor to the President on Domestic Policy.
“The State President moved to appoint this team because he values and prioritizes dialogue on matters of national interest,” said Minister of Information Patricia Kaliati.
Kaliati said it was Mutharika’s wishes that both the government technical team and the PAC have fruitful dialogue.
Mutharika and PAC have been crossing paths following the religious grouping’s all inclusive conference earlier this year in which an ultimatum, aside a petition, was made for Mutharika to step down.
Mutharika recently accused PAC of ambushing him when they met at State House in Lilongwe on the petition the all inclusive meeting developed. Surprisingly the ultimatum issue was not raised during the meeting which was broadcasted live on MBCtv.
