Malawi Parliament Stinks, Water Problems Affect Deliberations

Malawi Parliament has become a stinking spot as water shortage currently the capital city of Lilongwe is experiencing hit the house of the honorables (sic), forcing deliberations to be adjourned on Wednesday due to uncontrollable stench from the building’s toilets.

A string whiff engulfed the Parliament building on Wednesday, inconveniencing the august House.

Parliament is expected to endorse the K1.2 trillion 2016/17 national budget by today.

On Wednesday Dedza East Parliamentarian, Juliana Lunguzi pleaded with the Speaker to suspend the deliberations due to the stench.

Leader of the house, George Chaponda seemed not convinced with Lungu’s plea until Information Minister Patricia Kaliati argued the House to consider the idea.

Deputy Speaker Esther Mcheka Chilenje then suspended the deliberations.

Lilongwe city is currently experiencing water supply shortage as the Water Board is failing to meet the demand, blaming the situation to low water levels in its dams.
