Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) councilor for Dedza South West Kachepa Kamangamadzi has dumped the party and joined main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
Kamangamadzi announced this week that he wants to serve the party which the majority of people he represents support.
“The majority of people from the ward I represent are MCP followers and that is why I have decided to be on the same side with my people,” he said.
“At first I was a member of the MCP and I have decided to go back to where I belong,” he added.
The Dedza South West councilor turned down the assertions that he joined DPP looking for privileges. He said he is yet to officially meet and inform the DPP Executive Committee of his constituency.
Kamangamadzi joined the ruling party when the party was formed by its founder late Professor Bingu wa Mutharika.
