Over 350 allegedly Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and Peoples Party (PP) have defected to the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
DPP regional governor for the South Charles Mchacha said the defection of the opposition parties’ members is an indication that the ruling party is executing its duties well.
Among the new members include former Mayor for Blantyre City and veteran politician John Chikakwiya.
Chikakwiya was forced to join DPP policies.
The veteran politician said it is encouraging to note that the DPP led government is delivering all its campaign pledges during May 2014 elections.
