Malawi Police in eastern district of Machinga are keeping in custody a man for killing his nine-year-old albino nephew.
The body of the deceased is still missing but the severed head was found wrapped in a piece of cloth in another village.
Police in Machinga confirmed the arrest of Elias Chatha, an uncle to murdered Henry Mokoshoni.
Chatha was arrested after people tipped the law-enforcers that he might have had a hand in the death of Mokoshoni.
The arrest of Chatha comes barely days after government announced the appointment of a special prosecutor on cases of people with albinism to ensure the state secures convictions for
attackers of people with disability.
Chatha’s alleged accomplices are yet to be arrested. Mokoshoni was abducted from the house of his mother Edna Cedrick on Monday May 30th.
