Terror and fear has gripped Malawi’s capital city of Lilongwe following the death of two people- a woman and a man- who have been killed by unknown assailants in separate incidents.
This morning (Friday) residents of Area 36 woke up to a shocking-news of the death of Atina Kasera who was stabbed to the death by unknown thugs currently on the run.
Kasera was working as sale lady in a Ndiwo Shop situated in the area.
Malawi Punch understands that she met her fate right there in the shop when her assailants who posed as customers stabbed her three times before running away with cash.
In another incident, on Monday this week a young man was found dead near Chipasula Bridge. Lilongwe Police Station spokesperson, Kingsley Dandaula identified the deceased as Gift Chagoma, 31, of Mtondo village T/A Kawomba in Kasungu district.
“The deceased left home on 30th April, 2016 in the afternoon to watch football match at Sun City bottle store at Biwi and never return home,” explained Dandaula.
Dandaula said the deceased body was found on Tuesday at around 10am lying near Chipasula Bridge while covered with maize stalks. The deceased was found dead with his wrist watch and all his two cell phones in his pocket.
Postmortem done by Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) indicated that he died of strangulation. Police investigations are still underway to trace the culprits and the motive.
