A bus belonging to a South African company, Nyamende Transport Services carrying about 68 passengers to Malawi has been involved in an accident in Mozambique.
A supervisor at Wenela Bus Depot in Blantyre has confirmed the accident, saying the bus which left South Africa on Sunday, was expected to arrive in Blantyre by 3 o’clock this afternoon.
Immigration spokesperson at Mwanza border, Pasqualli Zulu, says two people are feared dead, and a team from Malawi has been sent to the accident site in Mozambique.
The Nyamende Bus, Registration number KMZ 56ZNGP-Trailer T/NP 10GP, was involved in an accident around noon at Songo turn off, close to Tete.
Nyamende Bus officials at Wenela say another bus is on its way to Mozambique on a rescue mission.
