NFRA Has 30000 Tons Of Maize as Staff Likely To Go On Strike Over Increment

National Food Reserve Agency has so far managed to buy about 30000 metric tons of maize and the available money which the department has is expected to last next week.

Currently employees are demanding for 50% pay hike from government. They have given government up to next week to respond to their demands and failing which they going put down tools. This will mean that the buying of maize by NFRA shall be suspended.

Currently in the southern region Maize is going at K15000 per 50kg bag, while in central is selling at K12000 per 50kg bag, while in the northern region is selling at K12000 per 50kg. The prices are expected to go up as the demand of maize increases.
