Two people have died while six others are on life saving machines at Mwanza district hospital following a catastrophic accident that happened at Mwanza Border post on Wednesday morning.
According to immigration officials at the border post, a haulage truck belonging to Zagaf Transport hit several vehicles including two taxis that were in its way after the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The truck, registration number registration number BL 8023, hit a Toyota Corolla, registration number LA 3395 and a Toyota Probox, registered NU 1204.
Mwanza Police publicist inspector Edwin Kaunda said the two that died in the accident include a two-year-old girl Elube Enoch and taxi driver Aaron Mvula.
Mvula died while receiving treatment at Mwanza District Hospital. Other six others who were aboard the two passenger vehicles were seriously injured and were rushed to hospital.
The police took for questioning the driver of the Zagaf Truck, 48-year-old Peter Hola from M’mimba village, Traditional Authority Msamala in Balaka.-Zodiak
