The Malawi Union for the Blind (MUB) has expressed fears over government’s delay in consulting organizations that advocate for rights of persons with visual impairment.
MUB said the delay could affect the issue of inclusiveness in development strategies that are meant to benefit people with visual impairment.
According to MUB government has not reached out to them on how best it can blend the issue of inclusiveness in its development plans.
MUB’s Program Manager Latimu Matenje said as an organization, they would like to see some change on the issue of inclusiveness especially in the areas of employment as well as education.
Matenje said government is reluctant to embrace issues of inclusiveness as the Malawi Growth Development Strategy (MGD) expires this year.
