The Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) continues pouncing on public and private facilities that do not conform to hygienic standards, latest being Lingadzi Inn, Capital City Motel and Seven Eleven bakery situated in Kilipula building in Lilongwe.
The three facilities join Café Lounge situated at Chichiri Shopping Mall, Blantyre whose operations have been suspended due to continuous non compliance to hygienic conditions.
MBS closed down Lingadzi Inn, Capital City Motel and Seven Eleven bakery on Friday (15th April, 2016) and Café Lounge on Thursday (14th April, 2016).
Malawi Standard Number 21; Food and Food Processing Units –Code of Hygienic Conditions- empowers the bureau to suspend operations of any institution that offers its services to the public if not complying with hygienic standards.
“The MBS wishes to advise the general public against patronizing Lingadzi Inn, Capital City Motel and Seven Eleven until the hygienic conditions have been improved and the suspension lifted by the MBS,” reads in part a notice from MBS.
Recently, MBS also suspended operations of Shire Highlands Hotel, Malawi Sun Food Court and Chibuku Breweries Limited, among others.
