Kasungu First Grade Magistrate Court has sentenced a 24-year-old man Adam Kaisi to 11 years imprisonment with hard labour for defiling a 13-year-old imbecile girl.
The court jailed kaisi on Friday last week.
Kaisi committed the offence on February 11th, 2016. he the victim on her way to see her grandmother who lives within the same village. He threatened her that he would deal with her because she had been denying him sex for the long time.
The victim started running away and the suspect chased her until he caught her up. He tied her to a tree with a plant fibres before defiling her.
Kaisi pleaded not guilty to Defilement charge under Section 138 of the Penal Code, but the state paraded four witnesses which included the victim, her father, the medical officer who examined the victim and the investigator. The state also tendered the plant fibres the convict used to tie the victim as part of the evidence.
Kasungu First Grade Magistrate, Damiano Banda found Kaisi guilty as charged. He however bemoaned the behaviour of the convict and described it as unacceptable.
Adam Kaisi comes from Chisazima village, Senior Traditional Authority Kaomba in Kasungu district.
