Employing of graduates from unaccredited institutions in the civil service worries NGO’s

The Civil Society Education Coalition (CSEC) and students from the country’s public universities have petitioned government over the indefinite closure of some state universities.

Presenting the petition CSEC board chairperson Jullie Juma said government has failed to decisively to intervene on the closure of the Mzuzu University and the Polytechnic.

Mrs Juma has also taken a swipe at government for employing double standards on accreditation saying graduates from institutions described as unaccredited has been recruited in the civil service.

“We have witnessed people in various institutions promoted with qualifications obtained from unaccredited institutions a thing which is a bias to graduates from accredited institutions so we need the government to look in this problem because this actually measures the quality of Malawi’s education as valueless,” explained Juma.
