Desperate Malawi govt resorts to lying about Mutharika return, just to buy time

Spin doctors from Malawi’s government have resorted to desperate dishonesty in a bid to cool down flaring tensions in the country, as citizens demand answers regarding the whereabouts of the head of state and government, Peter Mutharika.

According to a Facebook post termed ‘Breaking News’ by Malawi Broadcasting Corporation, Mr Mutharika is expected to jet in this coming Sunday.

This is not the first time that government has lied about Mutharika’s home coming.

On October 7 this month, the whole Minister of Information told Nation Newspaper that the President was expected last weekend, but he never showed up.

Malawi Punch can confidently reveal that these are same old DPP tricks to cool down the air that has gone sour surrounding President Mutharika.

Malawi Punch can comfortably state that the government has failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Mutharika is enjoying what they described as “robust health in US” by means of recording a LIVE video of the President speaking to Malawians, even a 10 seconds clip.

Instead, government has resorted to propaganda tricks by attacking people that are blowing secret information surrounding the President. This they have done by using State Funded news websites, Malawi Voice and Malawi Independent.

Information Minister, Malison Ndau released a Press Statement threatening legal action against anyone enquiring or discussing Mr Mutharika’s health and whereabouts.

To justify his elongated stay in the US, government claimed that Mutharika was conducting official business with US government on behalf of Malawians, but Malawi Punch revealed with tangible facts from US State Department factsheets that there are no talks between Malawi and US and the last talks of this nature were conducted in March. Refer to the article: Mutharika Caught Pants down, no business deals underway according to US State Dept’s fact sheet for Malawi.

Government lied before concerning the home coming of Mutharika and Malawi Punch strongly announces that it is lying again. Come Sunday this week, another excuse will most likely be made.
