Deputy speaker of parliament backs Chaponda on the maize importation corruption

Tuesday morning first deputy speaker of parliament Ester Mcheka Chilenje threw out what Rumphi east law maker Kamplepo Kalua presented in the house as evidence that agriculture minister George Chaponda was involved in shoulder dealings in the importations of maize from Brazil.

Mcheka Chilenje said the documentation provided by Kalua was not official as it was not signed and it was not printed on an official headed paper.

But the leader of opposition Lazarus Chakwera suggested that instead of throwing the matter out a relevant committee of the house should have probed this.
