Armed Thugs Kills An Accountant In Nkhotakota

A couple of unknown thugs, with fire arms have murdered a 49 year old in Nkhotakota, who owns a maize mill at Kalimanjira Trading Centre in Nkhotakota. He was an asistant accountant at Salima district education office.

Malawi Punch spoke to police spokesperson in Nkhotakota, Sub-Inspector Williams Kaponda, who identified the deceased as Issac Banda said the victim was killed in his house in the early hours of Sunday at Malasa Village, Traditional Authority Malingachamzi in the district by hindering his breath.

The spokesperson said the reason behind the killing remains indistinct as police have since launched an investigation into the murder incident to establish the motive as nothing was reported missing during the murder.

However residents in the area suspects the murder gang might be either of the same area or from Salima district, where the deceased had been working.

The two notorious thugs forced the victim and his 26 years old son, (name deliberately omitted) into a bedroom at a gun point situation, before taking him into lone room, where they locked and tied him up, the spokesperson said.

“The criminals forced the deceased into his bedroom. There was unusual noise,” his son recounts.

It is said the victim’s son shouted for a help from separate room he was placed, until neighbors swarmed and broke the door into the room, untied the deceased’s son.IMG-20160801-WA0001
“When they checked in the bedroom of the deceased, they found him lying dead on the bed, both hands tied with a twine, his head was covered with a green bathing towel, while the neck was tied with wire,” police publicist Kaponda added.

Police visited the crime scene, and body was taken to Nkhotakota District Hospital, where postmortem was conducted as death was pronounced due to strangulation.
