A 38 year old man living with albinism has been brutally murdered in Ntcheu on Tuesday.
According to Ntcheu Police Public Relations Officer Gift Matewere, the deceased Fletcher Masina of Zintambira Village Traditional Authority Chakhumbira in the district, on the said day he went to the garden with his wife to water vegetables.
Around noon, he sent his spouse home to do some household chores but the wife got suspicious that the husband was not coming back home till 5 pm. She later reported the matter to close relatives who went to the garden to look for Masina but he was nowhere to be found.
The matter was eventually reported to police.
Matewere said that the police rushed to the scene and intensified the search which led to the discovery of the deceased’s body that was found lying dead and dumped in reeds along Likhubula River a few meters away from his garden.
The body was found beheaded with private parts, arms and legs removed. Currently, no one has been arrested in connection with the case but investigations are still underway.
Matewere, however, is urging the general public to join hands with the police in the fight against killings and abduction of people living with albinism in the country.
