A Radio Network Planet Manager for Airtel Malawi Limited Kelvin Kuyeri on Tuesday took to the dock and testified in the on-going former budget director Paul Mphwiyo’s shooting case.
Kuyeri testified as wittiness for the second accused person in the case, Pika Manondo.
Manondo, ex- Malawi Defence Force officer MacDonald Kumwembe and former minister and attorney general Raphael Kasambara are answering to charges of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Kuyeri explained to court on how one can be located using mobile phone towers when using their network in a specific area or distance.
Kuyeri’s testimony was more technical and was called to testify in defence of Manondo who is disputing that he was not in Malawi at the time former budget director was shot.
Meanwhile, the court has allowed the State to parade another four witnesses. According to Dpp Mary Kachale the State would want to parade another four witnesses to counter some of defence witnesses’ testimony.
Presiding judge, Justice Michael Mtambo granted the wish of the State despite the accused disputed the application, saying there was no need to restart hearing State’s witnesses.
Justice Mtambo has since adjourned the matter to 9th ,10th and 11th May, 2016 when the State is expected to parade their new four witnesses.
