As challenges to access health services among people with disabilities continue to rise in the country.
The Malawi Nation Association of the Deaf (MANAD) has expressed concern over the problems deaf women are facing in accessing maternal services.
MANAD executive director Byson Chimenya disclosed to Malawi Punch that despite the efforts to easy communication problems between the deaf and health personnel, nothing is changing.
Chimenya said it is still challenging for deaf women to access quality maternal health services due to communication problems.
He cited an incident that occurred in Phalombe within the week when a deaf woman faced a lot of challenges during labor because nurses had no knowledge of sign language.
