Government has suspended provision of HIV testing and counseling adultery services in all districts across the country due to lack of test kits.
Monitoring Evaluation Officer for the Department of Health in the Ministry of Health Thoko Kaluwa has said currently the ministry has only four months stock as such they are only prioritizing critical populations such as pregnant women in all government hospitals.
Kaluwa said the development has come due to delays in shipment of expected supplies in the country which are following the problems of limited supplies internationally.
Meanwhile executive director for Malawi health equity network (MEHEN) George Jobe has blamed government for failing to set its priorities right by underfunding the health sector.
Jobe argued that the issue will put lives of Malawians at risk and also greatly affect the country’s efforts in fighting HIV/AIDS pandemic.
