Three people have been arrested in separate incidents in Lilongwe and Mzuzu for being found in possession of stolen drugs and medical equipment.
In Lilongwe, police have arrested a 17-year-old boy Osman Kennedy and Mphatso Moyo, 26, after being found in possession of 270 packets of malaria drug LA.
According to police report, Kennedy was arrested at Mtendere along Lilongwe-Blantyre M1 road after the police staged a roadblock.
“While searching one of the minibuses Kennedy was found with a bag full of LA. He was arrested and when interviewed he admitted that he was the owner of the bag and that he was on his way to deliver it to Moyo at Dedza boarder,” police report reads.
Moyo revealed during interrogations that the drugs were sent to her by Dafu Malenga of Area 23 in Lilongwe.
Kennedy hails from Kandulu village under Traditional Authority Ndindi in Salima district while Moyo comes from Mchoma vilage, Traditional Authority Mazengera in Lilongwe.
In another incident, police in Mzuzu have arrested assistance laboratory attendant after being found with drugs and medical equipment worth undisclosed millions of Kwachas stolen at Mzuzu Central Hospital.
