Controversial hip-hop artist born Mandela Mwanza is among 16 Malawian young leaders selected to participate in this year’s Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African leaders in the United States.
The list of the selected was announced by US Ambassador to Malawi Virginia Palmer and the visiting US deputy assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Todd Haskell last week.
Malawi’s selection this year has doubled, increasing from eight participants in 2015 to 16.
Third Eye joins Nancy Chawawa, Bester Chilombo, Admore Chiumia, Davie Chogawana, Mixon Faluweki, Lusungu Kalanga, Virginia Lipenga, Chikondi Mandala, Rachel Mhango, Joshua Ngalande, Linda Sichali, Halima Twabi and Peter Yakobe.
The group will leave for USA in June for a six-week programme on the campus of a US University to be followed by a summit in Washington DC to be hosted by President Barack Obama.
