A 52-year-old Dedza-based woman Keledonia Tanada Nkhonyo has left for China to learn agriculture skills courtesy of Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) Innovations Awards.
She was awarded in November 2015 for voluntary teaching farmer’s modern farming methods. She departed for China on Wednesday through Lilongwe International Airport.
Nkhonyo said she is very happy for the journey and is excited to advance her skills in China and use the Knowledge to teach other farmers.
She also thanks MBC for the Award and the Story Workshop Education Training for the acquired knowledge through a one-year Mlimi Wozitsata project.
Nkhonyo who is from Dedza, has trained more than 15,000 farmers in her community in traditional farming practices that yield and secured bumper harvest year after year.
The Award of Nkhonyo has given effort to the organization to expand Mlimi Wozitsata project by two years targeting 10 districts.
Mlimi Wozitsata project is funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through Alliance for a Green Revolution.
