Agricultural Scientist Calls For Improved Grain Storage

A crop protection scientist at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resource (LUANAR) has advised people in the country to consider a new maize storage technology that uses no chemicals for maximum safety.

Trust Kasambala Donga who is an entomology at LUANAR’s constituent Bunda College made the remarks on Monday when she demonstrated how to use improved storage bags to communities at Bunda.

Kasambala Donga said apart from being cost effective the technology is safe for people as it uses no chemicals.

“As Bunda college, we are not only teaching people about agriculture but we also train farmers;  so the community needed to be sensitized about this new technology on how to keep grain without adding any chemicals,” Said Donga.
