Chancellor College (CHANCO) through its faculty of law has embarked on awareness campaign on the rights of people with albinism in Phalombe district as one way of reducing albino attacks in the country.
According to legal coordinator of faculty of law at the college Timothy Chirwa the program is aimed at making the public aware of the rights of people with albinism.
Chirwa further said issues of albino killings and attacks are lacking knowledge to be effective and have a huge impact on people in the country, and that is why the faculty wants the public to understand the rights of people living with albinism.
However Chirwa has urged Malawians to take issues dealing with people with albinism as seriously in order to reduce the albino attacks.
The killings of albino and incidents of people tampering with albino graves have risen in past months and police have made several arrests relation to the malpractice.
Meanwhile, President Peter Mutharika has vowed to deal with people who abduct and kill albinos in the country.
